So, I did my Prenuvo scan - here are some thoughts.
Well, we all know it’s far better to be proactive about our health rather than reactive. This is where Prenuvo really leads the market: whole-body scans offering precision without radiation or invasive procedures.
They’re often cited as a leader in the whole-body MRI space, and it’s their reputation for a different kind of patient experience that sold me. While there are other whole-body MRI services in Europe, Prenuvo’s unique approach- which includes advanced imaging and a more patient-centric model- sets them apart.
Before I dive into my experience, here’s a little reminder: schedule any health screenings or annual check-ups you’re due for before the end of the year if you haven’t done so yet- whether that’s your dentist or a skin check, just do it. Future you will thank you.
Now, back to the topic: my recent experience with Prenuvo. This year has been incredible for me as a massive tennis fan. I was lucky enough to travel to and attend all four Grand Slams, seeing the action live on all the main courts. But even better? The moment I got my US Open tickets, I also booked my Prenuvo scan. (They’re not yet open in London, but so many new locations are popping up- it’s great to see them growing. Hopefully, this tech will become more accessible to a broader audience over time.)
I’ll admit, I was a little nervous. I’m a bit claustrophobic and can get restless when anxious. But I was determined to get this done without panicking, and I’m so glad I did. I didn’t opt for sedation, although they do offer it for those who are more nervous. Instead, I chose to watch shows on Netflix, which was a true game-changer. The communication and check-in with the practitioner leading my scan were also incredibly reassuring. I even managed to finish the last episode of my show as we wrapped up- a brilliant trick for managing “scan-xiety.”
The process itself is, of course, a little noisy- it’s a bit like being on a construction site- but the excellent headphones they provide make it much better. The whole experience was surprisingly comfortable, and the hour flew by with my show as a distraction. The machine even gives light breathwork instructions as it takes the images.
I was incredibly impressed by the speed of the results. While they say it can take up to 5–10 working days, I received my report in just three. The report was comprehensive and easy to understand, with minor and informational findings clearly laid out. This was particularly useful, as it gave me a baseline understanding of my body and what to monitor, without causing unnecessary alarm. It’s all part of that preventative mindset: knowing what’s going on inside so you can take control of your health. I’ll be able to leverage this information later for other screenings. It really gave me peace of mind, made me appreciate my body, and I feel more prepared for the future.
Overall Pros and Cons
Pros:
The scan is genuinely patient-friendly and even enjoyable (I like to imagine I’m in a spaceship!), and the option to watch Netflix really helps, too.
The speed of delivering the report.
The easy-to-read, comprehensive report in the app, with imagery and educational content- covering the nervous, respiratory, circulatory, reproductive systems (including breast tissue), and more.
The peace of mind it provides and the high-quality health data.
Cons:
It’s still quite expensive. But, of course, if you consider its potentially life-saving benefits, the cost takes on a different perspective. I hope that as more locations open and preventative care becomes more mainstream, this type of screening will be accessible to more people, not just those who can currently afford it.
It doesn’t provide insights about gut health, including the small or large intestine. For someone like me with past gut issues, other standard screenings are still necessary.
Overall, though, gaining insights, data, and a glimpse into your system to be truly proactive is incredibly valuable. I’m so grateful I had this done.
